Who We Are: Service to School (S2S) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that empowers U.S. military veterans and servicemembers to achieve "Admission Accomplished" at the best colleges and graduate schools possible. Through free, peer-to-peer mentorship, we guide veterans from military service to academia, ensuring they have the resources and support to succeed in their educational pursuits.

Description: As a Program Support Intern at Service to School, you will play a vital role in supporting our veterans as they navigate the college admissions process. You will assist with applicant success by working on admission essays, interviews, and resumes, collaborating with ambassadors, and creating new resources with the Director of Student Success. Additionally, you will manage document collection, engage with community colleges, and work with veteran service organizations to develop partnerships that enhance the opportunities available to our veteran applicants.

Responsibilities:

  • Applicant Success:

    • Assist applicants with crafting compelling admission essays, preparing for interviews, and refining resumes.

    • Collaborate with S2S Ambassadors to support applicants throughout the admissions process.

    • Work closely with the Director of Student Success to develop new resources and support programs tailored to applicants' needs.

    • Process student documents and application materials efficiently and accurately.

    • Manage the collection and review of documents for VetLink applicants, ensuring timely and thorough review.

  • Partner Development:

    • Engage with community colleges, including veteran liaisons and transfer officials, to support the student veteran population.

    • Stay informed about best practices by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and collaborating with Veteran Service Organizations such as the Warrior Scholar Project and the Pat Tillman Foundation.

    • Engage with employers interested in offering internship opportunities to student veterans, fostering relationships that benefit our applicants.

Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • A team player who can navigate a fluid and collaborative work environment.

Ideal Candidate:

  • An enlisted veteran planning to apply to a four-year college within the next two years.

  • Candidates must be SkillBridge approved/eligible to be considered for this position.
